About Karen

Healing Is More Than Changing Behaviours

It means reconnecting with ourselves, finding balance, and learning to navigate life beyond survival mode.

Karen, founder of Thriving Peer Life Coaching

Hi, I'm Karen — a retired Navy veteran with 20 years of service, a nationally Certified Health & Wellness Coach, and a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist.

My own journey in recovery has given me a personal understanding of the challenges, courage, and growth that come with choosing healing and making meaningful changes in our lives.

I believe healing involves more than changing behaviours; it means reconnecting with ourselves, finding balance, and learning to navigate life beyond survival mode.

I welcome people from all walks of life — whether you have personally experienced trauma, addiction, or other life challenges, have been affected by someone else's struggles, or are simply seeking connection, balance, and greater well-being. You do not have to identify as being in recovery or be actively working the 12 Steps to attend.

"You do not have to walk this path alone."
Yoga and breathwork practice

My Approach

Through Y12SR (Yoga of 12-Step Recovery), I bring together the principles of 12-Step recovery with my 200-hour yoga teacher training and the practices of breathwork, mindfulness, and meditation to support the whole person — body, mind, and spirit.

My approach is realistic, direct, and supportive, creating space for people to connect, grow, and build meaningful practices that support their well-being.
